Dubai 'super' plate BB 88 secures AED14 million at RTA auction

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) 119th auction for distinct number plates has raised nearly AED97.95 million in total.

"Super" plate BB 88 was the top earner, fetching AED14 million.

It was followed by Y 31, which was sold for AED6.27 million, while M 78 fetched AED6 million.

Meanwhile, plate BB 777 was sold for AED6 million.

About 90 number plates went under the hammer with two-, three-, four- and five-digit plates of categories (AA, BB, K, L, M, N, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X, Y,  Z) part of the deal. 

To participate in the auction, applicants must have a traffic file in Dubai and deposit a security check addressed to the RTA for AED 25,000, in addition to a non-refundable AED 120 fee at customer happiness centres. Payments can also be made by credit card via the RTA's website and app.
