More than 4.2 million passengers travelled through Sharjah Airport in the first quarter of 2024, marking a 10 per cent year-on-year increase.
During the three-month period from January to March, the airport recorded 26,473 flight movements and transported more than 42,000 tonnes of cargo.
January was the month with the highest number of passenger (over 1.44 million), while March was the most active in terms of the number of flights (9,127) and freight volume (17,700 tonnes).
Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said these strong figures were reported amid the airport's ongoing service enhancement activities and expansion project, which are expected to increase its capacity to 25 million passengers annually by 2027.
