The UAE and Japan have wrapped up their second Ministerial Meeting under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Japan, led the UAE delegation during an official visit to Japan from April 13 to 16.
During the visit, Dr. Al Jaber held high-level talks with Japanese officials, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Trade.
Discussions focused on boosting cooperation in key areas like energy, trade, investment and advanced technology.
The two sides reviewed progress on joint projects and explored new opportunities to strengthen economic ties.
ADNOC signed a major 15-year agreement with Mitsui for the supply of up to 0.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG from its lower-carbon Ruwais LNG project, reinforcing the energy partnership between both nations.
Japan also welcomed the low-carbon ammonia produced by Fertiglobe and supplied by ADNOC to power clean electricity generation.
Bilateral trade between the UAE and Japan reached nearly $50 billion in 2024 (including oil-related products), while non-oil trade amounted to nearly $17.5 billion, with the UAE remaining Japan’s top trading partner in the GCC.
