On the first day of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2023) in Abu Dhabi, the UAE Armed Forces signed AED 4.5 billion worth of deals, split over 11 major contracts.
According to the Ministry of Defence, six deals worth AED 2.3 billion went to local companies, while five contracts worth AED 2.2 billion were awarded to international companies.
The five-day event was inaugurated on Monday by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.
It runs until February 24 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The latest edition features the participation of 65 countries, which is a 10 per cent increase over the previous edition.
The number of national pavilions has increased to 41, marking a growth rate of 17 per cent.
