Fresh protests erupted in the US city of Atlanta against the killing of an unarmed black man by a police officer.

The fast-food restaurant where Rayshard Brooks was shot dead for resisting arrest was set on fire and a major highway shut down as thousands took to the streets to demand an end to police brutality.

The incident has been caught on camera and is set to fuel more demonstrations across the country.

Police chief Erika Shields has stepped down, but the identities of the two officers involved in the incident have not been released.

This comes just weeks after major demonstrations have been held across the US to honour George Floyd, a black man who died under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer.
