The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs has handed a formal protest note to Iran’s acting chargé d’affaires in the country, addressing the continued Iranian missile and drone attacks.
The note was delivered by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan to Counselor Hamid Hameed Yaqoubi.
It also informed the Iranian mission of Kuwait's decision to reduce the number of Iranian embassy staff, while declaring two diplomats persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country within 24 hours.
The latest Iranian attacks, which resumed early Wednesday, targeted civilian facilities and vital infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport.
Officials say the strikes resulted in one death, dozens of injuries and damage to key installations and diplomatic premises.
The ministry described the attacks as a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.
Kuwait strongly condemned the incidents and rejected any justification for attacks on its territory, saying it also dismisses what it called unfounded Iranian allegations.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s right to defend its sovereignty and take all necessary measures to protect its citizens, residents and critical infrastructure.
