Nawaz Sharif's London trip delayed over travel ban

In a dramatic turn of events, Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's plans to fly to London for medical treatment has hit a roadblock.

It comes after Pakistan government reportedly delayed the removal of his name from the no-fly list.

The 69-year-old Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo was scheduled to leave for London on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight on Sunday morning.

"The government could not remove Nawaz Sharif's name from the no fly-list (Exist Control List-ECL) as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman was not available to issue no objection certificate in this case," a government official told PTI.

On Friday, Nawaz was allowed in principle to travel abroad for medical treatment.
