The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen says it has intercepted and destroyed a drone launched towards Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region on Friday.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki announced the interception early in the morning, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
It is the second drone downed over the region in two days, after the coalition intercepted and destroyed another on Thursday.
The interceptions follow a series of attacks on the kingdom this week.
On Tuesday evening, an Aramco administrative building in Dhahran was targeted, causing a “limited” fire, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy said. No injuries were reported.
The coalition also said it intercepted a ballistic missile targeting Dhahran, and that authorities responded to debris from intercepted attacks that fell on residential areas in the city.
Early on Wednesday, Saudi authorities said falling debris from two intercepted cruise missiles injured four people and damaged 15 homes in Riyadh. Those injured included two women, a man and a child.
The coalition also reported intercepting four cruise missiles and three drones launched by the Houthis towards Riyadh and the southern region, as well as a ballistic missile aimed at Haradh and a cruise missile that targeted Al Kharj.
