A protest over a new citizenship law in the Indian capital New Delhi turned violent, leaving seven people, including a police officer, dead.

Officials added that nearly 100 people have been injured during the clashes.

At least five metro stations and several schools in the city have been ordered to shut down on Tuesday amid news reports of fresh clashes.

It comes just hours after US President Donald Trump reached New Delhi for high-profile talks with Indian leaders.
