Trump to declare 'emergency' over border wall funding

AFP

US President Donald Trump has vowed to declare a national emergency to fund his long-promised border wall with Mexico.

According to reports, Trump will sign a border security bill to avert a government shutdown and then declare a national emergency at the same time to bypass the Congress and use military funds for the wall.

A White House official told the media that the President is set to announce the total amount to be in the range of $8 billion.

Democrats have said they will oppose Trump if he declares a national emergency on the southern border.
