UK court extends custody of Indian jeweller Nirav Modi

CHANDAN KHANNA / AFP

A UK court has extended the remand of Indian diamond merchant Nirav Modi till June 27.

The 48-year-old has been lodged at Wandsworth prison in south-west London since his arrest in March over his alleged involvement in $2 billion fraud at India's state-run Punjab National Bank.

The court had previously rejected Modi's bail plea three times over fears he was a flight risk.
