Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has rolled out 15 new air-conditioned rest areas for delivery bike riders at key bus and metro stations across the city.

The initiative aims to improve road safety and rider wellbeing during the midday work ban, which prohibits outdoor work from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM and runs until September 15.

These temporary shelters join 40 permanent facilities already in place, offering riders shaded rest, water dispensers, phone charging stations and nearby motorbike parking.

The shelters are designed to reduce heat exposure while maintaining visibility and insulation.

In partnership with the UAE Food Bank and Deliveroo, the RTA is also distributing 7,500 hot meals to riders, recognising their vital role in Dubai’s fast-growing delivery sector.

These rest stops have been installed at key locations, including Gold Souq, Al Satwa, Al Jafiliya and Oud Metha bus stations, as well as metro station exits at Al Qusais, e&, Emirates Towers, Insurance Market, Centrepoint, Al Furjan, Business Bay, DMCC, ADCB and BurJuman.

The RTA says the initiative supports sustainability, reduces food waste and strengthens public-private partnerships—all while ensuring delivery riders have a safe and comfortable space to rest during peak heat hours.
