Eighteen children have died in Dubai due to accidents at home in the past three years.

According to Dubai Police, 10 of these deaths were caused by electric shocks, while sliding doors led to the death of five others, two drowned in hot tubs, and another died inside a washing machine.

The authority handled a total of 286 cases over the last three years, where children were involved in accidents at home.

Officials have called on parents to monitor their kids more closely and ensure the safety of household appliances and electrical devices.

They have also urged residents to make sure that they only purchase those items that comply with the standards set by the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology.
