8 killed in run-over Dubai accidents in 2023

Eight people were killed and 339 were injured in run-over accidents in Dubai in 2023.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Traffic Department at Dubai Police, released the stats and highlighted the dangers of crossing the road from non-designated areas.

He said 320 run-over traffic accidents were recorded during the year. Of the injuries, 33 were serious, 155 moderate and 151 minor.

A total of 43,817 jaywalking violations were recorded during the same period, with the highest number of violations reported in September (4,591), followed by May (4,252) and October (4,239).

The offence is punishable with a fine of AED 400.
