Abu Dhabi Police has denied reports of a flat 50 per cent discount being offered on traffic fines in the emirate.

The authority clarified that the only discount scheme currently in place is meant for motorists who settle their dues early.

The fine is slashed by 35 per cent if it's paid within 60 days, and a 25 per cent discount is offered on fines that are settled between 60 days and up to one year of the date of violation, except for serious offences.

Police urged people not to spread rumours and to rely only on official sources for information.
