Abu Dhabi Police has released a powerful video showing motorists the dangers of skipping red lights and has urged drivers to stay alert while at the wheel.

The 50-second video, posted on social media, begins by showing a vehicle running a red light and ploughing into the side of a black pick-up truck, causing both vehicles to veer dangerously out of control.

A second incident shows a white car turning across four lanes, straight into oncoming traffic causing an accident with a lorry, just moments before a school bus approaches the intersection.
