A budget of AED 3 billion has been allocated to enhance road connectivity, reduce congestion and improve traffic safety in Abu Dhabi.

A number of projects will be completed by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), of which the biggest is a 25 km Mid-island Parkway - a new five-lane road connecting islands to the mainland, with a capacity of up to 10,000 vehicles, each way, per hour.

Phase one of the project will see Al Saadiyat Island and Umm Yifienah Street linked to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street and Al Reem Island.

The Musaffah Road Traffic Improvements Project (E30) will address current traffic issues by removing junctions on the road in both directions and reducing traffic on the upper four intersections and internal sections inside the Musaffah area and Mohamed bin Zayed City. In addition, two new bridges will be constructed to improve the connectivity between Mohamed bin Zayed City and Mussafah.

Improvements will also be made to Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (E20) including the connection of the airport intersection and the Bridges Complex intersection, improving traffic between Khalifa City and Zayed City while reducing congestion at the Khalifa City exit.

New bridges will be built along Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road and 79th Street in Mohamed bin Zayed City and road capacity in the same areas will be improved.
