The UAE is leading globally in many indicators for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to effective preventive measures as well as a free vaccination drive.

Some of the key achievements were highlighted during the latest government briefing on Tuesday.

  • The UAE ranked second in the world for the daily distribution of COVID-19 vaccine doses last week, with an average of 6.06 doses per 100 people.
  • It stands fifth in the world in terms of the overall availability of the vaccine. (After the United States, China, the UK and Israel)
  • The UAE has become the first country where the number of COVID-19 tests carried out since the beginning of the pandemic, exceeds its total population. More than 24.7 million tests have been conducted so far.
  • The effective measures taken by the UAE have led to the country being ranked first in the Middle East and third globally for public satisfaction with procedures to tackle COVID-19. (According to Toluna International Consumer Survey, June 2020)

The UAE’s management of the pandemic is a balance between maintaining the safety of the community, restoring normalcy, resuming economic activities and accelerating production in various vital sectors.

During the briefing, officials called on the public to always take data and information from official sources, and to refrain from questioning the efforts of all those who have worked to contain this pandemic.

Officials reiterated that the UAE launched its national vaccination campaign after confirming all safety aspects as well as compliance with scientific procedures and international standards.

More than 205 centres across the UAE are currently providing the vaccine free of charge.
