COVID-19: Updates from UAE government media briefing

More than 26 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the UAE so far, which is among the highest in the world per capita.

The figures were revealed during the latest government media briefing on Tuesday.

Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), said the UAE has a flexible and highly agile system in dealing with the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

He highlighted how the country is adopting innovative treatment methods, enhancing the capacity of the health sector, expanding screening tests and providing medical and preventive supplies.

The official pointed out the UAE's unique model of successfully and safely balancing public health and the continuity of economic activities in key sectors.

He also reminded everyone to continue following the precautionary measures and warned of tougher procedures against individuals and entities caught breaking the rules.

Dr. Al Dhaheri highlighted the positive public response to the UAE's vaccination drive, and reiterated the role of the vaccine in acquiring herd immunity, which will help control the spread of the virus.
