Dubai Customs officials have successfully thwarted a drug smuggling attempt at one of the emirate's land border crossings.

More than 6.5 kilograms of illegal drugs were seized from a driver who showed suspicious behavior during the customs inspection process.

The suspect was then directed for a manual inspection leading to the recovery of plastic bags concealed in secret pockets of the clothes and car seats. Officers also recovered 6.67kg of hashish and 3 grams of crystal meth cleverly concealed in secret compartments within the vehicle's seats.

The suspect has been detained for further investigation as authorities continue their efforts to curb the flow of illegal drugs across the country's borders.
