Dubai Police has urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy ahead of summer travel, revealing that officers recorded 3,589 vehicle safety violations during the first five months of the year.
The force is reminding drivers to carry out routine maintenance, inspect their tyres regularly and make sure their vehicles are safe to drive as temperatures continue to rise and many residents prepare for long-distance road trips.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said motorists should conduct regular vehicle inspections and comply with traffic laws to help protect themselves and other road users during the summer months.
He also warned drivers against fitting unauthorised aftermarket accessories, saying they can lead to mechanical failures and are a major cause of vehicle fires.
According to Dubai Police, the violations recorded so far this year included 1,737 cases of vehicles failing to meet safety requirements, 1,026 unroadworthy vehicles, and 826 vehicles being driven with expired tyres.
Police said awareness and enforcement campaigns are continuing across the UAE, with a particular focus on vehicles fitted with worn or expired tyres, as authorities work to reduce accidents and improve road safety during the summer season.
