Dubai Police's Humanitarian Care Department provided financial and in-kind assistance amounting to AED 11,129,440 to inmates last year.

That’s according to Dubai Police who said its their aim to provide inmates with all their basic needs as per international regulations and standards. They added that they seek to rehabilitate and equip them with the necessary skills and training to reintegrate into society after their release, rather than solely punishing them.

The efforts of charitable institutions and humanitarian initiatives by individuals were praised by the authorities. The donations were instrumental in providing aid to inmates and their families, particularly those facing financial difficulties, to alleviate their suffering.

The donations aided in improving the living conditions of inmates in prisons and helped resolve internal and external issues. Some of the assistance included payments for rent,  covering the educational expenses of their children, and providing medical equipment and medical assistance such as wheelchairs, prescription glasses, and childbirth expenses for female inmates, including issuing birth certificates for their children.

The donations also included clothing, holiday clothing, personal hygiene items, and other necessary items to help the inmates and their families.

Dubai Police said that the efforts of the Humanitarian Care Department and the charitable organisations and groups that supported them are a testament to the UAE communities values of tolerance, generosity, and compassion.
