Dubai Police are urging drivers to keep a safe distance on the roads, warning that failure to do so remains one of the leading causes of serious, and sometimes fatal, accidents.

The reminder follows a crash on Emirates Road on Monday, near the Dubai Club Bridge heading toward Sharjah.

One person died and two others were injured when three vehicles collided, which police say was caused by a driver not maintaining a safe distance.

Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, Director of Dubai’s General Traffic Department, said the accident was reported at 1:30 PM, and initial investigations confirmed that tailgating led to the deadly impact.

Emergency teams responded quickly, securing the scene, treating the injured, and restoring traffic flow.

He stressed that keeping a safe distance is a key part of defensive driving. Under federal law, violators face a fine of AED 400 and four black points for not maintaining a safe distance.

Dubai Police continue to run awareness campaigns targeting risky behaviors like speeding, distracted driving, and tailgating — all in a bid to make the roads safer for everyone.

Dubai Police are urging drivers to keep a safe distance between vehicles, warning that failure to do so can lead to serious — and even fatal — accidents.

The reminder follows a tragic crash last Monday on Emirates Road near the Dubai Club Bridge heading toward Sharjah. One person died and two others were injured when three vehicles collided — a result of one driver failing to maintain a proper distance.

Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, Director of Dubai’s General Traffic Department, confirmed that the accident occurred around 1:30 PM. Emergency teams responded quickly, clearing the scene and ensuring smooth traffic flow while the injured were taken to hospital.

Dubai Police say not keeping a safe distance is among the most common causes of road accidents. Under federal traffic law, violators face a fine of 400 dirhams and four black points.

Officials are reminding all drivers that defensive driving — including maintaining safe space — is key to preventing loss of life and ensuring road safety for everyone.
