You will soon be able to use your smartphone to pay for public transport in Dubai.

A virtual Nol Card has been unveiled by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) that allows users to top up the balance with their credit card.

It will also come in handy while paying parking fees and for shopping at certain retail outlets.

The technology, which is being showcased at GITEX, is expected to be implemented in the third quarter of next year, just in time for Expo 2020 Dubai.
