Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has revealed plans for a 'Rail Bus' project, set to offer a greener and more cost-effective travel option.

The futuristic pods, capable of carrying 40 passengers and reaching speeds of 100 km per hour, will run on elevated tracks.

Each carriage will measure 11.5 metres long by 2.65 metres wide.

The RTA is showcasing the project at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, which runs until February 13, but full details on locations and launch dates are still under wraps.

This latest initiative is part of Dubai's ongoing efforts to ramp up futuristic transport solutions and tackle congestion.
