Dubai speeds up airport procedures with 'Click & Travel'

The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) has officially launched a mobile service designed to make entry and departure procedures at Dubai Airports faster and more flexible for travellers.

Called 'Click & Travel', the service allows passport control officers to complete procedures wherever passengers are inside the airport, rather than requiring them to go to a fixed service point.

The initiative is designed for busy periods and emergencies, helping improve passenger flow and reduce pressure at traditional passport control points.

It uses mobile devices connected to GDRFA Dubai’s systems, along with biometric verification technology. Identity checks and transactions can be completed in around 12 to 15 seconds.

The service has already processed around 31,373 transactions during its pilot phase, which began in May and ran through the end of August.

At departure, 'Click & Travel' is available to all passengers, including UAE citizens, residents and visitors.

For arrivals, the first phase covers UAE citizens and residents, with plans to expand the service gradually.

GDRFA Dubai says the initiative is part of a broader effort to redesign the passenger experience by bringing services directly to travellers.

Officials say the system gives airport teams greater flexibility to respond to changing passenger volumes, while maintaining security and efficiency.

GDRFA Dubai also plans to expand the service in the future, potentially allowing other parts of the passenger journey to be completed through mobile devices.
