Dubai unveils second phase of Al Mamzar Beach development project

WAM

The Dubai Municipality has announced the awarding of contracts for the second phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project.

This ambitious phase will focus on enhancing the beachfront area of Al Mamzar Corniche, with both phases expected to be completed by the end of 2025 with the total value of the project is estimated at AED 400 million.

The Al Mamzar Beach Development Project aims to redefine beach tourism in Dubai, elevating the city’s beach infrastructure with innovative designs that will integrate the creek and corniche seamlessly.

The project is not only intended to create a world-class beach destination, but also addresses environmental sustainability and the challenges of climate change. By providing a range of integrated recreational, sports, and commercial facilities, it will set new international standards for beach design.

One of the key highlights of the development is the dedicated public beach for women. This space will ensure privacy and safety with a secure gated entrance, fencing, and facilities designed for night swimming. The beach will also feature various tailored amenities, including a sports club, commercial services, and children's play areas.

The public beach at Al Mamzar Corniche will also cater to a range of outdoor activities with 1,000 meters of running, walking, and cycling paths that will link Al Mamzar Creek Beach to Al Mamzar Park, the first design of its kind in the region.

In addition to its recreational offerings, the project includes green spaces, aesthetically landscaped areas, and a 5,000-square-meter space for seasonal events. There will also be a dedicated 2,000-square-meter skateboarding area, restrooms, beach lounges, and a range of wellness facilities. Public amenities, such as toilets, changing rooms, and showers, will be fully accessible, with services available for people of determination.

The development will feature advanced smart technologies to ensure a seamless visitor experience. These include AI-supported surveillance systems, crowd management tools, and drowning rescue technologies, as well as smart luggage lockers. The project will also introduce waterfront restaurants, food and beverage outlets, and beach seating areas, fostering new business opportunities while enhancing the experience for visitors.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, expressed the project’s alignment with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to make Dubai the world’s best city to live, work, and visit. Anwahi emphasised that the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project is a crucial part of Dubai’s commitment to providing sustainable and advanced tourism infrastructure, supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 targets.

“The development of tourist and beachfront facilities is key to building a sustainable, attractive city,” Anwahi said. “This project strengthens Dubai’s position as a global tourism leader while improving the quality of life for all its residents.”

The first phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development, which began in June 2024, is already 45% complete. This phase covers an area of 275,000 square meters and features a pedestrian pontoon bridge, a night swimming beach, dedicated walking and cycling tracks, and multiple recreational zones. The project also includes extensive visitor facilities such as barbecue spots, jet ski marinas, and ample parking with 1,400 spaces.

Both phases of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project are expected to be completed by the end of 2025, ensuring that the city remains at the forefront of modern beach tourism.
