Dubai's Al Maktoum International Airport named among world’s five mega infrastructure projects

Al Maktoum International Airport is part of the world’s five mega infrastructure developments. That's according to a report by UK based Knight Frank. The airport, which opened in 2010, will expand freight capacity from the current rate of one million tonnes of cargo per annum to 16 million tonnes. Khawar Khan , analyst with Knight Frank says the airport is going to be important to the emirate as a hub largely because of its connectivity over the next decade.

Al Maktoum International Airport plans to handle around 220 million passengers a year in comparison to Dubai International, which currently handles around 72 million.
