Etihad Rail brings forward opening date of Madinat Zayed and Liwa passenger stations

Etihad Rail has announced it will open Madinat Zayed and Liwa passenger stations a month ahead of schedule on November 30.

It was announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, during a meeting with a delegation from Etihad Rail at Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The decision aims to align with the start of the events and festivals season in the Al Dhafra Region, giving people better access to the region’s diverse destinations and events through the passenger rail network.

Etihad Rail's passenger service launched on June 30, cutting travel time between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah to just 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The company announced earlier that Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid station will officially open on September 30. The route will be complete upon the opening of Sharjah station on March 30, 2027.

It will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE, from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the east, passing through Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
