Dubai's Crown Prince has lauded emergency response teams and government entities for their swift response to the fire at Jebel Ali port.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum thanked them for their quick intervention and professional approach.

He said Dubai’s government has exceeded all expectations in responding to emergencies and crises.

"Very proud of our teams for the timely and professional way they handled the fire situation at Jebel Ali," added His Highness.

The fire broke out on Wednesday night in a container on a ship carrying flammable materials.

It was brought under control within 40 minutes. Officials said operations at the port are running as normal.

"Prudent action ensured that operations were not affected in any way due to the incident, which occurred in the older Terminal 1, used only for small ships," Dubai Media Office said in a statement.

"Terminal 2, 3 and 4 of the Port, where big ships dock and offload their cargo, continued normal operations even during the incident," it added.
