His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Dubai and expressed optimism the "nation...will regain the global standing it deserves".
The meeting was on the sidelines of the Arab Media Summit, where Al-Sharaa was a key speaker.
In a social media post on X, Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed that the UAE's "relations with Syria are founded on affection, friendship, brotherhood and mutual respect".
His Highness expressed happiness at Syria's "return to the path of development" and optimism "that a nation with such a rich civilisation will regain the global standing it deserves".
"We also look forward to strengthening the deep fraternal ties between our people."
