Hit-and-run driver nabbed in Dubai

A driver who fled the scene after running over a pedestrian has been nabbed by Dubai Police before he could leave the country.

The 24-year-old man was arrested within three hours of receiving the report of the incident, which took place in Al Quoz Industrial Area on Sunday at 10:00 pm.

The Asian victim, who suffered serious injuries was transferred to Rashid Hospital for treatment.

Colonel Abdel Moneim Abdel Rahman Muhammed, Acting Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, said that the young man was struck by a vehicle while crossing a side street.

"Within an hour, specialised teams located the vehicle involved in the collision abandoned with visible signs of impact. The Asian suspect was placed on the wanted list and apprehended in less than 3 hours while attempting to flee the country," added Col. Moneim.
