Irish authorities praise UAE over Daniel Kinahan extradition

Ireland's Justice Minister has praised UAE authorities for their handling of the extradition of Irish national Daniel Kinahan, describing the professionalism of the country's judicial bodies as being of a high standard.

Kinahan, who is considered one of Ireland's most wanted individuals in connection with transnational organised crime, has been extradited to Irish authorities following a ruling by the Dubai Court of Cassation.

He is accused of leading an organised criminal group, murder and drug trafficking.

UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi and Ireland's Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration Jim O'Callaghan discussed the extradition during a phone call.

O'Callaghan expressed his appreciation to UAE authorities for their work throughout the extradition process and said the case marked an important milestone in judicial cooperation between the two countries.

The ministers said the decision demonstrated their shared commitment to the rule of law and sent a message that people accused of serious crimes would not be able to evade justice by crossing international borders.

Al Nuaimi reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to strengthening judicial cooperation with Ireland and other international partners in tackling transnational organised crime.

Kinahan's extradition followed an official request from Irish authorities and was carried out under the extradition agreement between the UAE and Ireland.
