Meet UAE's best school librarians

Some of the best school librarians in the UAE have been recognised for their efforts in developing a love for reading among children.

These unsung heroes have been honoured at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature with the 'School Librarian of the Year' awards.

The prestigious awards are presented by the Emirates Literature Foundation, in association with the Executive Council of Dubai,

The winners have been selected from more than 116 nominations across the UAE.

Mary Rose Grieve from Hartland International School Dubai came first in the private schools category, while Halima Khalfan Salem Alnagbi from Omair Bin Abi Waqas School for Basic Education, Sharjah was the winner in the public schools category.

Grieve spoke to ARN News about some of the factors she thinks could have helped her win this award.

She also says that the win has given her an added sense of responsibility.


 

  • Private Schools category winners:
    • First Place- Mary Rose Grieve, Hartland International School, Dubai
    • Second Place- Teejay Button, Raha International School, Abu Dhabi
    • Third Place- N Basavaraja, Garden City British School, Al Ain
  • Public Schools category winners:
    • First Place- Halima Khalfan Salem Alnagbi, Omair Bin Abi Waqas School for Basic Education, Cycle 1, Eastern area- Sharjah
    • Second Place- Abeer Mohammed Salem Hamad AlHusani, Muhra Bint Ahmad School for Basic Education, Cycle 1, Ras Al Khaimah
    • Third Place- Rawdah Mesiad Khalid Almansoori, Ghayathi School for Basic Education (Boys’ section), Abu Dhabi
  • Special mention: Arwa Mustafa and Ayesha AlShaer from National Charity School, Cycle 1, Al Garhoud Dubai
