Dubai was hit with sandstorms, heavy rain, thunder and gusting winds on Saturday afternoon, with the poor weather expected to continue well into next week.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) posted a weather alert for Dubai down to Al Ain, until Saturday 8.00 pm, advising of hazardous conditions, while it also said it is carrying out cloud-seeding operations.

The NCM also posted videos on their social media channels highlighting some of the extreme weather experienced throughout Saturday afternoon.

The five-day forecast issued by the NCM says winds of up to 45 km/h are expected until Wednesday, causing reduced visibility in blowing sand, while rain is forecast until Tuesday, with the chance of mist and fog on Sunday morning.
