Sharjah Police rescued a driver whose cruise control failed at a speed of 130 kph, the authority said on Wednesday.
The Acting Director of the Operations Centre at Sharjah Police, Colonel Dr. Hamdan Al Tunaiji, said they received a distressed phone call, prompting the authority to coordinate with police patrols present in the area.
Sharjah Police employees calmed the driver, while giving him instructions to disconnect the cruise control, which enabled him to disconnect the cruise control, stop the vehicle, and exit it safely without injuries.
Colonel Dr. Tunaiji stressed the need for regular vehicular inspections and for drivers not to hesitate to contact the operations centre on 999 in case of emergencies.
