Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has emphasised the need to intensify global efforts to lift Gaza aid blockade during talks with Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh.
The meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, focused on the overall development in the region, particularly the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip after aid delivery was blocked in March. A global hunger monitor has warned that half a million people in Gaza face starvation.
During the talks with Hussein Al-Sheikh, who also holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s support for the people of Palestine and its commitment to helping meet their humanitarian needs.
He called for an end to violence and extremism and highlighted the urgent need to revive political dialogue aimed at achieving lasting peace through the two-state solution.
