The UAE and US along with nine other countries have issued a joint statement expressing their deep condolences to those affected by the recent earthquakes in Syria.

The other countries include Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom who met in Amman, Jordan, on March 21 to discuss the situation in Syria.

The statement called for the international community to provide humanitarian assistance, including emergency response and early recovery projects, to all Syrians in need, especially those in the most affected areas.

The group welcomed the outcomes of the international donors' conference in Brussels to support those affected, and looked forward to the seventh annual Brussels Conference on the Future of Syria and the Region on June 15.

The group also reiterated their call for a nationwide ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access to all Syrians including both cross-border and cross-line.

The statement welcomed the recent facilitation by the Syrian authorities of UN cross-border humanitarian access through the Bab al-Salam and al-Rai crossings and called for this to continue.

The group also welcomed UN Special Envoy Geir Pedersen's briefing and reaffirmed their support for UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
