Thousands fined in Abu Dhabi for not wearing seat belt

NULL

6,000 people were fined in a month for not buckling up in the UAE’s capital. That's according to Abu Dhabi Police, who say the figure is among the largest number of seat belt violations recorded in one month. Offenders were fined AED 400 and four black points were added to their traffic record. Police are urging the public to buckle up as studies have shown that the use of a seat belt reduces the risk of death by 40% to 60% in case of an accident. Parents are also warned that allowing children aged ten and under to sit in the front is also an offence.
