A series of traffic enhancements have been completed in Dubai's Oud Metha area as part of the Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) 2024 Quick Traffic Solutions Plan.

These upgrades are designed to optimize the city’s road network, supporting urban expansion and population growth while improving traffic flow and safety.

Key improvements include upgraded entry and exit points from Umm Hurair Street to Oud Metha, featuring new 317-metre deceleration and acceleration lanes to better manage inbound and outbound traffic.

The service road exit on Umm Hurair Street has also been expanded from two to three lanes over a 100-metre stretch, increasing road capacity by 50% and reducing journey times by up to 40%.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the RTA's Traffic & Roads Agency, said that these enhancements, including improved road lighting, aim to facilitate smoother traffic flow and support the growing population and thriving business activities in Oud Metha.

This area hosts various residential, commercial, medical and cultural facilities, and the upgrades will contribute to reducing accidents and enhancing safety.

Al Shehhi also highlighted the expansion of Street No. 2 towards Umm Hurair Roundabout to alleviate traffic congestion, as well as improvements to the roundabout itself, increasing the number of turning lanes from two to three.

Additionally, 27 new parking spaces have been introduced to accommodate motorists, especially those visiting commercial establishments.
