UAE and Belgium hold third round of political consultations

WAM

The UAE and Belgium have held a new round of political consultations hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi.

The talks were co‑chaired by Reem Ketait, the UAE's Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, and Theodora Gentzis, Secretary General and President of the Board of Directors of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, with senior officials from both sides in attendance.

They reviewed the strong and growing partnership between the two countries, including expanding trade, investment and cooperation in sectors such as energy, technology and sustainable infrastructure.

Both sides also discussed progress on the UAE–EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

The meeting covered security issues, counter‑terrorism, regional developments and humanitarian efforts, including support for Gaza and the Horn of Africa.

Judicial and consular cooperation was also on the agenda, alongside coordination in law enforcement and legal affairs.

The two countries agreed to increase high‑level visits and to hold the next round of consultations in Brussels in 2027.
