The UAE and China have discussed ways to enhance cooperation in higher education and the introduction of joint academic programmes.

This came during talks between the UAE's Minister of Education Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi and China's Vice Minister of Education Chen Jie.

The meeting, which was held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai touched on the expansion of student and faculty exchange programmes and scholarship initiatives, as well as encouraging Chinese universities to establish branches in the UAE.

Both sides also reviewed efforts to advance digital education and promote Chinese language education in the Emirates.

The meeting comes ahead of the UAE's participation in the third Forum of the Belt and Road Initiative, set to take place in Beijing from October 17-18, where the education sector will be a key area of focus.
