The UAE has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security, under the protection of Israeli police, calling it a provocative and extremist act.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) described the incident as an incitement against Muslims and an escalation of tensions in the region.

In a statement, the Ministry reiterated the UAE’s firm stance on the need to fully protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and halt the ongoing violations taking place at the site.

The UAE also emphasised the importance of respecting the custodial role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over the holy sites, as per international law and historical agreements.

It called for the preservation of the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration, which oversees the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surrounding areas, including the Dome of the Rock.

The UAE Ministry warned that such violations could have serious repercussions, further exacerbating regional tensions.

It urged Israeli authorities to stop escalating the situation and avoid actions that could destabilize the region. The UAE reaffirmed its rejection of any practices that contravene international resolutions and threaten peace.

Furthermore, the UAE called on the international community to intensify efforts to find a viable political solution that leads to a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. This, the Ministry said, should fulfill the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state, in line with international resolutions.
