Visa exemption for diplomats among new UAE-Pakistan agreements

The UAE and Pakistan have signed a series of agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including a visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also signed agreements on artificial intelligence and digital economy and the establishment of a joint task force to promote UAE investments in strategic sectors in Pakistan.

The agreements were signed during the 12th session of the UAE–Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in Abu Dhabi, where ministers from both sides reviewed progress in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure and IT.

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State, described Pakistan as a historic partner of the UAE, noting that diplomatic relations have flourished since 1971. He highlighted the steady growth in economic cooperation and emphasized the two countries’ commitment to a partnership built on mutual trust, respect, and shared goals.

In a post on social media platform X, Dar highlighted the meeting was "an important step in further deepening strategic, economic and development cooperation" between the two countries.  

Both nations reaffirmed their long-standing partnership, with non-oil trade exceeding $8.6 billion in 2024, and pledged to further enhance bilateral ties in pursuit of shared prosperity and regional stability.
