The UAE Public Prosecution has expanded its investigation into the publication of the false report claiming explosions were heard in central Dubai.
Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney-General of the UAE, affirmed that the responsible agency's decision to withdraw the story and release an apology will not stop the probe.
The prosecution has heard the reporter's statement and summoned those involved in the preparation, approval, and publication of the report to examine their role in the release of the false story.
They were also questioned to understand the extent of compliance with the legal and professional standards governing the verification of information before publication.
The measures are being taken by the authority to decide the necessary legal action based on the outcome of the investigation.
