The UAE Rescue Team has conducted 19 specialised operations, with 406 precise water drops on fire hotspots, using more than 700,000 kg of water in continued efforts to fight wildfires in Albania.
The operations are being carried out in close coordination with the Albanian authorities.
The team began the mission on August 11 in the Gramsh forest area and its surrounding areas, following the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to support Albania.
Coordination meetings continue between the UAE team and Albanian officials to develop necessary operational plans to accelerate the pace of firefighting operations, along with continuous field monitoring of the areas where the fires have been extinguished to prevent their rekindling.
A UAE taskforce has also been dispatched to support efforts to fight wildfires in Montenegro on Monday as the natural disasters continue in both regions.
