Dubai's International Humanitarian City (IHC) has initiated its third airlift mission to Libya's Benghazi city to support those affected by the devastating floods caused by Storm Daniel.

A Boeing 747 aircraft carrying over 90 tonnes of vital aid took off from Dubai World Central on Friday morning.

On board were essential shelter materials, kitchen sets, blankets, jerricans and other crucial relief items provided by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Last month, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the activation of a relief airbridge to dispatch aid shipments to support people in flood-devastated eastern Libya.

"This marks the third Benghazi-bound airlift facilitated by IHC in the past three weeks," said Giuseppe Saba, CEO of International Humanitarian City, who reiterated the commitment to aiding vulnerable populations during times of crisis.

The latest airlift was made possible through the Global Humanitarian Impact Fund, a resource established and mobilised by IHC to support critical humanitarian missions across the globe.
