Public educational institutions in the UAE will return to face-to-face learning in two separate phases, starting next week.

All educational facilities in Abu Dhabi will also do the same.

The first group of students will return to campus on January 24.

They will include kindergarten, Cycle 1, Grade 12/13 students, as well as university students and those taking international exams.

The rest of the students will resume in-person lessons from January 31.

This was announced during the government's latest media briefing on developments related to COVID-19.

Remote learning was adopted in public education facilities during the first three weeks of the year as a precautionary measure.

Public and private institutions in Abu Dhabi had also switched to distance learning mode.

Students will be required to show a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours on the first day of return, and must then take a PCR test every two weeks.

Meanwhile, the green pass system will apply to parents before they enter educational establishments, along with a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours.

All external school trips and activities will be suspended until further notice, while sports and cultural activities will continue to apply relevant preventive measures.

Remote learning will continue to remain an option for students.
