The UAE has sent urgent humanitarian aid, including shelter supplies, essential food items, medical supplies and cholera vaccines, to help thousands of people displaced by the severe flooding in Mozambique recently.

The UAE Aid Agency said it procured essential food supplies from local markets in Mozambique, in coordination with the UAE Embassy, to ensure swift distribution.

The move follows the directive from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to ensure rapid emergency response and to assist impacted communities with essential supplies.

Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said torrential rains caused widespread flooding across Mozambique's southern and central regions since early January, resulting in "significant human and material losses, displaced large numbers of residents, and severely affected infrastructure and essential services".
