UAE welcomes Ethiopia peace deal

The UAE has welcomed the peace deal between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front.

The country said the agreement would help fulfil the aspirations of the Ethiopian people for development and prosperity and strengthen Ethiopia's unity.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) praised South Africa for hosting the peace talks.

It also commended the African Union's efforts as well as the constructive role played by Kenya in the agreement.

The ministry stressed the importance of the agreement's terms to facilitate access to humanitarian and relief supplies, and expressed hope the deal will help achieve stability and development for Ethiopia.
